Alternate living and self sufficiency can probably best described as, choosing out of the mainstream service providers, you may choose to make your own mud bricks, recycle used tyres for an earthship made from old tyres, huff and puff your way through a straw bale house, using solar and wind power for heating and light, much to the disgust of utilities, water tanks to help conserve a precious resource, the by product of water use grey water can be collected and reused.
Hi to those of you who have visited my site, it's a bit stark at the moment, however there are some very good links to other websites that may be of value to you.Hi to those of you who have visited my site, it's a bit stark at the moment, however there are some very good links to other websites that may be of value to you.
It's a work in progress, help me build it.
I used to be like many others, I wanted to do something about living with the earth not on it. I still live in the regulation legal box. This site exists as a result of a fascination/obsession with
Sustainable Living.
I marvel at Solar Technology
Chuckle at the ingenuity of others born out of having no money, this is my crusade, to leave only footprints for those who inherit what what we leave, when we are done.
While it's my crusade, it's also my choice to eventually live this way, I dont seek to impose this way of living on anyone else, the decision is your's.
While I am no expert with no formal qualifications in alternate living,
I was an agent for a major Alternate Energy company for a few years in the pacific.
Alternate living can mean different things to different people, a nudist, a swinger, living in a commune or someone living in a mud hut maybe. Or something totally different, it's your definition that counts.
Alternate Living for the purposes of this site is probably someone living using a minimalist approach.
Some or all of your energy supplied by Solar Powerwind or water.
You live or aspire to live in an Energy Efficient house with biodegradable/sustainable/recycled
materials :
Built with
Straw Bale
Earth Ships
made from recycled tyres if you are close to a source.
Living underground is a reality in coober pedy and whitecliffs where temperatures reach 50 deg C .
Mud Brick
Rock housing may also be an option in some areas.
Self sufficiency and sustainable living usually go hand in hand with alternate living, this may
involve a few chooks and job in town, to a fully operational acreage.
Grey Water Systems
Water Tanks
Drip Irrigation contribute to a
Self Sufficient Lifestyle.
If you choose to live sustainably, I hope my site makes things a little easier.
